Andrew von Oeyen in recital
Pianist Andrew von Oeyen first performed at St. Matthew’s at the age of 15. Since then he has established a formidable reputation as a soloist and chamber musician. During the 2009–2010 season, he will tour Japan with the Berliner Symphoniker Orchestra and with violinist Sarah Chang. His solo Music Guild recital will feature music by Berg, Beethoven and Liszt.

The Catgut Trio with Violinist Yi-Huan Zhao
The Catgut Trio has become one of the hottest chamber music ensembles on the West Coast. The Trio’s Music Guild appearance with the Chamber Orchestra’s Concertmaster, Yi-Huan Zhao, will feature Debussy’s radiant String Quartet, Beethoven’s Serenade for String Trio and “The Bagpiper’s Trio” by Judith Weir.

Copland, Mahler and Eisler

The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s presents a concert featuring Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring,” Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer” and music by émigré composer Hanns Eisler (in cooperation with the international Eisler symposium sponsored by Villa Aurora).

Mozart’s Requiem and music by Poulenc
The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s and the Choir of St. Matthew’s Parish present a program to include Poulenc’s Organ Concerto (in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Fisk- Pardee Memorial Organ) and Mozart’s Requiem in D minor.
