ST. MATTHEW’S MUSIC GUILD
VISION AND MISSION
The vision of St. Matthew’s Music Guild is to enrich, inspire and serve the Los Angeles community through the presentation of outstanding and innovative musical performances and educational activities. Our mission is to present high-quality concerts of repertoire for small orchestra composed from the Baroque period to the present day with special emphasis on works by living composers and composers of the recent past. An important aspect of this mission is the commissioning of new music by young LA-based composers. The Music Guild seeks to make live, professionally performed concerts available to persons throughout the Los Angeles area and to offer individuals who lack the resources or mobility to travel the ability to enjoy music at our community concerts.
Music at St. Matthew’s is one of the most respected music series in Los Angeles. With support from our subscribers and the entire Westside community, we offer world-class programs by Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s — a critically acclaimed professional ensemble featuring many of the best orchestral and studio musicians in Los Angeles — as well as exceptional guest artists and ensembles from around the world.
The Music Guild is grateful for the support it receives from its subscribers, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the MacTon Foundation, the Estate of Jim Lathers, the Estate of Mary Calfas Janos, the Colburn Foundation, and the I.N. and Susanna H. Van Nuys Foundation.
