Denis Bouriakov, flute – Music by Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Frank, and Norfleet

March 14, 2025 @ 8:00 pm

Bouriakov Norfleet

The Chamber Orchestra will open with the world premiere of a new Music Guild commission by Los Angeles-based Dawn Norfleet, a versatile composer, performer and bandleader with a broad range of roots and inspiration, from Claudio Monteverdi to Charles Stepney. The concert continues with Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout by Gabriela Lena Frank, whose opera El Último Sueño received an enthusiastic premiere by LA Opera.  Described by the Los Angeles Times as “an expressively eloquent soloist,” LA Phil Principal Flute Denis Bouriakov joins the Chamber Orchestra for Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 and Camille Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.

Ms. Norfleet’s composition is co-commissioned by the St. Matthew’s Music Guild and the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music
